Doy Bags are made at a women's co-operative in the Philippines. The co-operative provides employment for more than 200 women. Almost all these women are the family's main bread winners, most of the husbands being unable to find work due to the poor economy of the area.

Doy Bags are so bright and cheerful that they are sure to brighten any dull day. These superb bags are eco friendly as they make excellent use of recycled juice packs, non biodegradable foil and plastic packaging that would otherwise have gone into landfill sites and incinerators.

Doy Bags has proved that there can be a livelihood in garbage. They have succeeded where the juice manufacturers have failed to even try to make a difference (despite several recent acts of parliament to regulate ‘ecological solid wastes’ in the Philippines).

By purchasing a Doy Bag you are helping to improve the lives of local families by creating long-term sustainable employment – providing not only fair and regular wages, but also the skills and dignity that a proper job brings.

The bags are produced and traded according to Fair Trade principles.

We are also offering Fair Trade aprons from a factory that is SA8000 accredited. This prestigious award guarantees among other things that there is no child labour involved in the manufacture of the products. The company supports a local SOS children’s village in Kerala, paying for the upkeep and care of orphaned children.
