Quooker Information - The Hottest New Appliance in the Kitchen

The Quooker pronounced "Kwooker" the stylish boiling water tap that is one of those 'must have' products., but is both energy saving and  green at the same time. The only one that delivers water at 100 degrees, truly boiling water. Quooker is the new generation kettle, so convenient, instant boiling water at the turn of a tap, we have had our Quooker for almost three years. Easy to install Tim installed it himself and we love it, a luxury item, energy efficient and eco friendly.

There are so many uses for the Quooker that once you have one you may wonder how you managed without one - makes cous cous, steams fish and makes jellies in an instant.

The Quooker boiling water tap is one of those rare 'must have' appliances.

The Quooker is simple, ultra safe and immediately renders kettles out of date it takes kitchens a giant leap forward.

Its applications are endless and it's eco friendly, saving water, as  you use only the boiling water that you need.

It saves energy too, no more boiling more water in the kettle than you are going to use and then re boiling the same water later.

The water dispensed is sterile and safe.

The most obvious use is for making a cup of tea and as everyone knows for that perfect cup of tea only truly boiling water at 100°C will do!

The Quooker is convenient, time saving and significantly energy efficient.

Power hungry kettles are often cited as the most wasteful electrical appliance in the house; constantly being switched on through out the day; usually to boil far more water than is needed. By contrast, Quooker's vacuum tank sits snugly under the sink dispensing just the right amount of filtered boiling water that is required, whether its tea for one, filling a giant pasta pan immediately with boiling water, saving energy you would otherwise use on the stove.

Here are the top twenty uses for a Quooker:-

  1. Tea for one, two or twenty.
  2. A fresh pot of coffee on tap.
  3. Instant soups and sauces.
  4. Baby formula milk made in a moment.
  5. Sterilising baby bottle and dummies.
  6. Blanching fruits and vegetables.
  7. Peeling tomatoes.
  8. Boiling eggs.
  9. Filling pasta, noodle and rice pans.
  10. Heating up plates and serving dishes.
  11. Boiling water for cooking vegetables.
  12. Sterilising pots for jam making.
  13. Removing wax from candlesticks.
  14. Removing grease from pots and pans.
  15. Rinsing blenders and liquidisers.
  16. Cleaning animal feeding dishes.
  17. Topping up casseroles and soups.
  18. Filling hot water bottles.
  19. Melting stock cubes and gravy granules.

All Quookers have a childproof push-and-turn action to the handle. The taps are also height adjustable and insulated.

The adjustable height comes in handy, for instance, when you want to fill a tall pan or thermos. In this case you adjust the tap to the highest position. The lowest position, on the other hand, is useful when you want to fill a small pan with water in your sink. Thanks to the insulated spout you can do one shortly after the other; just take hold of the spout and slide it up and down.

Quooker VAQ Tanks

VAQ is the very latest generation of Quooker tanks. The most striking feature of the sleek stainless steel tank is its transparent red lid through which you can see the Quooker's microcircuitry.

However what makes the VAQ tank so special is hidden from the eye; its revolutionary high vacuum insulation. Quooker have succeeded in applying this technology to a pressurised reservoir. Providing a high vacuum with a radiation shield provides ultra-efficient insulation, making the Quooker highly energy efficient. The tanks are compact and can be easily fitted into a kitchen layout.

The tank is usually located under the sink with the Quooker tap of your choice located next to the sink on the worktop.

The system works as follows:-

  1. Fresh water flows into the tank.
  2. The water is heated under mains pressure to 110°C.
  3. The water is purified as it goes through a HiTAC water filter and the high temperature achieved guarantees sterility.
  4. The water cools to 100°C as it flows out of the tap and starts to boil. Calcium conversion takes place (eg no more tea scum)
  5. The water is freshly boiled and when it comes into contact with your tea or coffee is at the ideal temperature of ±93°C

There is an indicator light on the tap base that indicates if the tank is heating up. If the Quooker is not used the indicator will light up several times an hours for very short periods to maintain temperature. The light will come on as soon as boiling water is used. If the indicator flashes, the tank is not heating up. In this case you have to reset the unit by switching on and off briefly.

Safety

Boiling water and children can be a dangerous combination. this is true for stovetop kettles, electric kettles and Quookers, however the Quooker comes with a tap which is securely mounted to the worktop. The Quooker tap also has a child-proof push and turn handle and is also double walled.

One of the other major safety features of the Quooker is that the water comes out as a fine spray rather than a solid jet of water. On top of that the Quooker tap dispences no more than 0.5 litres of water per second. If an electric kettle topples over it spills its entire contents usually around 1 litre in under a second, which can cause serious burns.
